Leaps

Last Thursday we had our last Leaps (Leisure Education and Parks Students) meeting. We ate yummy food at McAllisters and talked about what we are doing over the summer. I had a great time!

Mortar & Pestle Awards

Last Saturday night Jon took me to the Pharmacist In-Training Mortar and Pestle Awards. It was held at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. The Gardens were very beautiful and at dusk it was very romantic (although to Jon it was a chance to become the next Karate Kid as demonstrated in the following pics). Jon received 2PD of the year and he was very surprised. He wants me to frame his certificate and I asked him why and he told me because his Dad frames everything he receives and because it's cool. So it's on my to do list.

I'm thinking, "how romantic"

Jon thinks otherwise

Anje and Jon

Let's all smile and get along

"No!" screamed Andrew and challenged Jon to the ultimate fight!

Jon receiving his award from Shannon. Can you tell he's pleasantly surprised.

Now its sunk in!

Dollies Without Borders Part 3

This month I got to complete 2 1/2 dollies for children in African orphanages. Linda Richards is such an amazing person. She opened up her home once more to let us create dolls for children in need of some comfort. It was so neat to have my friend Tracy there. She belongs to a Christian sorority at UF and 15 of her friends came as part of their volunteer hours. My next door neighbor Katie was there with her sewing machine. She is an AMAZING sewer. My friend Linsey was also there and she was one of the busy sewers as well. We all had a great time!!

I felt inspired to make twin dolls. I also completed a smaller doll. I was so nervous trying to draw a face but I did it!

Tracy and Claudia. Tracy made the cutest elephants!

That's Linda Richards in the front.

Hello's and Goodbye's

Last Thursday was a very fun and eventful day for me. I was inducted in my college Honor Society Rho Phi Lambda and then headed over to Olive Garden to say bye to Marie. The theme for Marie's dinner was inspired by the movie "Hairspray" hence my hair and outfit. I had a blast!

Jon did my hair. Isn't he great! Ladies, he is now taking reservations.

Internet

We finally got back our Internet reception late afternoon yesterday. Normally I would not care if it is down for a few days, but Cox decided to schedule an update on their wires the week of finals!! Let's just say it made for an interesting week! My laptop broke so I could not drive around town looking for hot spots and Jon has had to camp out on campus to watch his on-line lectures. We somehow survived and I managed to do well on all of my exams so hooray for us!
This whole thing made me realize and appreciate the capabilities of the Internet. It really does connect me to the world. On the other hand, not having Internet made me pick up my knitting needles. Purl stitch anyone?

On a side note, "Lost" was CRAZY last night. I yelled, I screamed, I laughed ("Get inside!") I perspired! All elements of a great show!

I probably shouldn't post this. . .

This morning I got an e-mail from Jon. I love it when he sends me e-mails. It's always filled with sweet phrases like "I love you" and "I miss you" and "you mean so much to me". This morning I was reminded of my husbands other ways of telling me he's thinking of me. This is what was in my inbox this morning:

Claudia,

Someday, this is what our son will tell me.

Phi Lambda Sigma's "So you want to be a Success"

Yesterday, Jon and I went to a Phi Lambda Sigma event. We had a great time. The vice- president Shannon did a fabulous job setting everything up. There were a ton of people there and the Target speakers were great. Something interesting, it really is a small world. One of the guest speakers last night was a former boss of mine. While I was dating Jon I worked at a pharmacy. The pharmacy director was a hard worker and I really admired his work ethic. I also knew he got paid very generously for doing what he did. I told Jon I wanted him to become the director of several pharmacies, just like Dr. Patel. And so, there he was last night. I thought I'd never see him again so it was neat saying hi and thank you for being you!
